Documena was a 2017 situationist curatorial project responding to how contemporary art production engaged with the intense European crisis. Coinciding with documenta14, Documena intended to examine documenta14's decision to voluntarily relocate the mega-exhibition from Kassel to Athens -under the title “Learning from Athens”- and question the ideological presumptions of its curatorial concept e.g. North vs South, Queer, European Institutions, Contemporary Democracy vs Ancient, Freedom vs Ελευθερία, the notion of Indegeneity in Europe etc.
