Documena was a 2017 situationist curatorial project responding to how contemporary art production engaged with the intense European crisis. Coinciding with documenta14, Documena intended to examine documenta14's decision to voluntarily relocate the mega-exhibition from Kassel to Athens -under the title “Learning from Athens”- and question the ideological presumptions of its curatorial concept e.g. North vs South, Queer, European Institutions, Contemporary Democracy vs Ancient, Freedom vs Ελευθερία, the notion of Indegeneity in Europe etc. Find out more on Documena.
